As I was reading some conference talks today I came across this quote by Thomas S Monson,

“If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly. . . Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with friends and family. One day each of us will run out of tomorrows.”

My wife and I were just talking about this. We have three children ages 4, 2, and 7 months. She often times tells me that they are growing up to fast and that the days seem long but when you look back at the time it has flown by. I am a full time student, a father, and have a fulltime job. Often I have noticed that I wake up and leave just as the kids are waking up and go to school and go straight to work from school. I am fortunate enough to come home for my hour dinner and then go back to work and return home at ten. By then I have to complete my homework and often my wife and kids are already asleep. This quote really hit me because I have noticed that my kids are growing so much each day and I am not always there to see them. I have devoted dinner time each weekday to only my family. My wife and I have decided that this would help our kids to have daddy time. My wife has dinner on the table each day when I get home. We eat and then focus on the kids. They each get to tell me something that they did, something they learned, and something they want to do this next day. This has become my favorite time of the day and something that I have come to look forward to. Even though the demand for me to provide for my family and go to school is demanding of my constant attention I know and my family knows that they will always have this time with me. No TV is on no checking email or the phone but just an hour devoted to only family.

As I started finding quotes from prophets and apostles I noticed that I really was impacted by the quotes I found in my Raising Children file. In this day in age I have been so worried about bringing children into this world because it is only going to get worse. As I read these talks by the apostles I noticed that I was starting to feel more and more comfortable about raising my children. I know that as I strive to live the teachings of the apostles, prophets, and scriptures I am doing all I can to build a safe place for my children to grow up in. I am going to be working on doing more activities with my children and building that safe haven for them to have refuge from the outside world and
